The What and Why of the Power Dates newsletter? (From Jonathan)
What I’m sharing with you in each of these newsletters is what I call the systems. I have always taught that “when you do the systems, eventually the systems do you.” When you study and live according to sacred calendars, tarot, astrology and other bodies of work…eventually they become embedded in your consciousness. You learn through these processes to live in harmony with the Masters and the Nature Spirits.
Each Sunday, I synthesize a number of systems from around the world: the love/destiny cards, the Sabian Symbols, the Mayan calendars, the Tibetan Buddhist Calendars, Astrology, and more...to provide you a day-to-day guide of how best to utilize the energies available in the upcoming seven days. I strive to provide you as much useful information as possible through this newsletter. In the meantime, I also see these weekly emails as inspirational: perhaps there are a few systems that you found particularly interesting, so you took a deep dive and learned more!
What does the "Destiny/Love Card" of the day mean?
The destiny/love card system is an esoteric science that matches a card from the standard 52-card deck with each day of the Gregorian calendar. Each card also comes with a name (e.g.: A of Hearts is called "The Desire for Love") that provides a rough summary of its energy. This system provides predictions on your life path based on your birth date much like astrology. It provides information on the compatibility between two people based on your cards. It also supports us in understanding the meaning of each day and how to live our life accordingly. For example, 5 of Hearts (The Emotional Adventurer) may not be the most ideal day to get married. When you find out the cards for your birthday, you can also look at the possible relationship between you and a specific date to decide when might be the most supportive date for a specific activity. For example, if your company has a birthday that corresponds to your "cosmic challenge" card, it could be...well, challenging.
What's the difference between the Mayan Solar Calendar and the Tzolkin Calendar?
Mayans had a 17-calendar system that tracks various overlapping cycles. In this newsletter we mostly reference two of these calendars. The sacred Tzolkin calendar counts 260 days made up of 13-day cycles called wave spells. The other calendar we reference is the Mayan solar Calendar consisting of thirteen 28-day months that add up to 364 days in a year (which leaves July 25th every year as "a day out of time").
How do I understand the Mayan signatures?
Let's use "12 BEN Red Crystal Skywalker - Guided by the Power of Life Force (Kin 233)" as an example.
"12 BEN" is the signature in Mayan while "Red Crystal Skywalker" that follows is its translation. "12" means the 12th tone which is Crystal tone. "BEN" is Mayan for wavespell "Red Skywalker". Each component of a signature carries its own energy which is illustrated through the words that follow. You can also find more detailed analysis of each Mayan signature online or in the 13 Moon Mayan Calendars that we recommend.
Each Mayan signature also has a Kin number, illustrating its position in the 260 days of the Tzolkin calendar.
What is "power-doubled"?
Among the 13 tones in the Mayan calendar, Magnetic (1), Rhythmic (6), and Spectral (11) are "guided by its own power doubled". In effect, the powers on these days are amplified. For a more detailed explanation, see this post by Resonant Truth.
What is "Galactic Activation Portal"?
On certain days in the Mayan calendar, portals to the greater universe open. There are 52 portal days in a Tzolkin year (260 days). On these days, you are encouraged to consciously enter the portal, where the energies are amplified and retrieve something to enhance your life and the lives of others. We encourage you to be as positive as is possible on these days in all things. These days can also feel emotional, intense, and unstable as old challenges may be revisited.
What are seasons in the Mayan calendars?
Just like most of the other calendars, the Mayans counted four seasons as well. In each Tzolkin cycle, there are four 65-day seasons: 1) Red Eastern Serpent Season of Instinct, 2) White Northern Dog Season of Heart, 3) Blue Western Eagle Season of Vision, 4) Yellow Southern Sun Season of Enlightenment.
The season changes are marked by Red Electric Serpent (Kin 185), White Electric Dog (Kin 250), Blue Electric Eagle (Kin 55) and Yellow Electric Sun (Kin 120).
Each 65-day season is also divided into three 20-day phases and one 5-day phase, marked by signatures in the Red Serpent, White Dog, Blue Eagle, and Yellow Sun Families. All signatures that mark these seasonal shifts are polar kins.
These seasonal changes guide us through the year as we work towards our goals and dreams.
Our Approach to Astrology News
In this newsletter, the only astrology headlines we include are new moon/full moon and planetary transits. These aspects are not only particularly powerful but also set the grid for days to come.
I recommend you to use this newsletter to pick the date you want to do something, then consult one of the excellent astrology sources to choose the best time. We highlight a few publications that we love and trust in our resources post.
How does "moon enters" a sign impact us?
In the same way the moon affects the tides, it also influences our emotions on a daily basis. This is why we highlight the moon's positions and behaviors in our weekly guides as some of the most important astrological notes. When the moon is in Gemini, we might feel more sociable. When the moon enters Cancer, we might feel more insecure. Similarly, the moon's oppositions, conjunctions, void of course, full/new, eclipses are all very powerful influences on our days. If the moon is in a sign that is your Sun, Ascendent, or moon, you could feel its impact even more.
What are the Sabian Symbols?
For new moon and full moon, we highlight the Sabian Symbols associated with the specific degree and sign of the moon and the sun.
The Sabian Symbols were brought into existence in 1925 by Marc Edmund Jones and Elsie Wheeler in San Diego, California. In 1973, Dane Rudhyar interpreted these imageries into “360 phases of a universal and multilevel cyclic process which aims at the actualization of a particular set of potentialities.”
For us, the Sabian Symbols offer another way to tune into and understand the energies of the new/full moon cycle, which consequently guides us in making the most of the moon cycles.
